Turns out there is a lot to learn about when it comes to "mommyhood". About a week and a half ago we discovered this new beautiful thing called napping! I failed to realize that as Charlie gets older he is also getting more aware (duh) of his surroundings which makes that "konk out anywhere" fanomina obsolete. In shear desperation, after the bouncy chair, play gym, shusshing, swaddling, singing, rocking, feeding, changing, bouncing, and tearing my hair out didn't work I decided to swaddle his little buns and lay him in his crib for 15 minutes of "mommy's sanity" time. Much to my dismay he fell asleep after 5 minutes of crying and stayed asleep for a full hour.
After encountering our first deliberate nap I started discussing with my arsenal of mom friends, they shared with me that at 2 months they should be sleeping roughly every two hours...WHAT!? So with that we implemented our new nap regimen. So far so good....except...well excuse me I have to go re-nuk. Ok I'm back.
On Monday Charlie went to his 2 month well baby exam and checked out great at a whopping 11 lbs 6 oz's! However, we landed back in the Dr.'s office on Wednesday with Charlie's first cold. Poor guy has a runny nose and a little cough. Nobody prepared me for how disgusting those snot suction bulbs are...gross! So we are just trying to pull out of that and then hopefully life will return to normal. I don't know if you other mothers would concur but sometimes with nap schedules and feeding and trying to keep a happy baby getting out of the house seems impossible leading you to feel like you live in a little tunnel and the whole world is happening on the outside despite you ducking out for 2 months. Anyone, anyone?
Ok, well that's all for now...check back and I will try and be better about updating more often :)
Yep, taking care of these little ones does make you feel disconnected. And, the bulb suction is disgusting and when Allie had a cold, every time I did it, you would have thought I was trying to murder her for the amount of screaming and crying that took place. But, can you imagine life without them at this point? Love the photo of Charlie!
ReplyDeleteHooray for naps!! Both mommy and baby need that time. Glad you got a schedule going! It will get easier and easier to get out with time!
ReplyDeleteBaby Charlie is so cute! Naps are great for sure. If you look and listen for "tired cues" then you will be able to identify when they want to nap. They should be sleeping for at least 1 hour for the naps at that age. I totally agree with the feeling that it is so hard to get out of the house and that sometimes you just feel like you are living in your own little bubble. Not to mention all the things you still need to accomplish in a day that don't involve the baby. It definitely gets easier as time goes by. Adding another makes it even crazier as I am sure you can imagine:)
